Adventures in 2008

This shot shows what a goofball AJ is at heart.

After being allowed to 'grow up', spring of 2008 would be AJ's big debut to the riding world.  Little did he know that his life was about to change dramatically!

After Cora came up lame in May, it was time to move him up to the A Team.  We had 5 weeks to condition him and get him ready for our big trip to Fort Robinson, Nebraska.  I was able to get a good 2 weeks of steady riding on before the weather changed on me.  It was either too hot, raining or we had other obligations to do.  I also had his first set of shoes put on for the upcoming trip.

The trip out was extremely long-9 hours, but oh so well worth it.  The weather was perfect, low humidity and great friends to ride with.  AJ did awesome and hardly took a wrong step.  Found out that he may be a water horse as he almost jumped in the stock tank we were watering at.  He actually had a foot in the tank and was ready to go for it.  Luckily, I was paying attention and backed his butt out right away!  Apache taught him some bad habits of splashing water all over everything.

Enjoy the photos!

AJ will be hitting the trails again this summer.  He's going to be the challenging ride horse where Cora will now be my "Flatland" horse.
