Evening Surprise

After coming back from a walk, Mike spied a fawn eating mulberries by my horse arena.  Funny thing is that it wasn't afraid of the horses and the horses weren't afraid of it.

I went inside, dropped Stone off and grabbed my camera.  Was hoping that the fawn would stay put and not spook as I crept along the pasture fence.

First thing I saw was this beautiful sunset happening.  I got a few shots of it and hoped they would turn out.  What do you think??

I really like how you can see the sunbeams coming through.

AJ saw me first and came over to say hi and followed me a bit.  I had to kick my crocks off because they were making too much noise in the grass and I could go into 'stealth mode'.  Ok, like I really have a 'stealth mode' but it was worth mentioning :)

I continued to creep along the fence and the fawn finally spotted me.  I froze, he froze, Cora's looking at me like what in the heck are you doing woman?  Um, do you have any treats??  Ok, it was actually pretty comical to see me hunched over, trying not to make eye contact and not giggle at the same time.

Finally the fawn goes back to eating and I drop to the ground and continue creeping along.  Do you know how hard it is to hold the camera in one hand, balance yourself and walk like a duck?  I'm 40 for Pete's Sake and my legs just don't do teenage stuff anymore.

I was able to finally get to my destination without too much hassel or cramps.

Look at her ears.  One is on me and the other on the fawn.  She's still not sure of my intentions and had to come over and investigate me further.

I see you even though you think you're hiding behind a pipe post!  You're not that skinny!

busted!  Sure do wish my camera battery wasn't dying and able to focus better!

Finally made my final destination, no, not the movie!  The fawn was acting very playful and even did a couple of playful strikes.  I was a bit worried he'd be too bold and come investigate me as I was laying on the ground.  I was maybe 40 ft away from him here.

I was done photographing him.  He actually went back to eating mulberries and I went to photograph the sunset again.

such pretty colors.

Thinking of entering this one in an upcoming photo contest.  Not 100% happy with it though, Wish the fence wasn't in the photograph.  It was actually kind of a challenge to get this angle.  I had to avoid turkey poo and bugs and other stuff.
