Whispering Oaks Newt

Newt came to Whispering Oaks in May of 2005.  After I lost Stache to a broken leg (he was the original feral cat that lived here), I put the word out that I'd like to get another barn cat.  Luck would have it that The Nebraska Humane Society had a cat that had been returned for "Litter Box Issues".  In reality, the people probably couldn't stand his yowling when he wanted out at night!  He has NEVER missed the litterbox that is in my tack room.  He did however let me know very vocally how upset he was to be locked in until he knew the property.

Newt is an older tom cat that has been there and done that.  He lived on the streets in Omaha and was used to pushing his weight around and is a very big boy to boot.  His paws are the size of quarters if not bigger!  We guessed him to be around 7 or 8 years old when he first came out here.  He's mellowed more in his older years though.  He's trying very hard to become an indoor cat, especially in the winter.  Don't worry though, he's well taken care of in the tack room with a heated bed, heated water bowl and even a heater when the weather gets real cold.
