Winter 2009/2010
Wow, what a winter this has been already. No ride time in October, November or December. I'm getting edgy and so are my horses.
Because I am on the verge of going 'Stir Crazy', I thought I'd share a little of what is happening in our neck of the woods up on the "Northern Tundra".
Things started getting ugly on December 8, 2009 when we received a lovely 8 plus inches of snow. Nothing that our snowblowers couldn't handle at that point, plus the sun was shining.

Day 5 The wind finally quit blowing so our neighbor could dig us out. Ran out of gas for the snowblowers, don't think they could have made it through the drifts though.....found out later that our good one was only working on one side...broke the shear pin. No wonder it wouldn't go through the drifts very well.....shoulda been a blonde?? |

Our next storm hit January 6, 2010. More wind, lots of snow and bitter cold yet again. My horses have been living in their blankets since before Christmas. This storm was bad due to the bitter cold. It hard packed the drifts to where I could walk on top of them without falling through. |
